Retired Rides : Alton Beast

The Alton Beast was one of the coasters that was installed in what came to be called 'Coaster Corner', in the area behind Talbot Street. The ride was a Schwarzkopf Jet Star III, very similar in design to the Black Hole in Fantasy World, although not enclosed, with the long spiral to the top, then a steep drop with lots of fast sweeping corners. The coaster was promoted by the park as being the largest and steepest coaster in Britian, reaching speeds of over 50 mph, and submitting the riders to forces of upto 4G.

As with the other rides in this area, it was very popular, resulting in the small area becoming very congested at times.

As a result of this, and complaints from the neighbouring village of Alton about the amount of noise, all the rides were removed, and the area closed.
