What a ride!
Certainly the best non-roller coaster ride Alton Towers have, that is until I ride Hex on saturday anyway! Nothing in the park can compare to Nemesis, the best roller coaster in the country!, but for themeing and good family fun Hex is the best ride in the country.
The themeing is excelent and followed through very well, the build up is of a very good length, the q line has something for you to look at - very funny stuff there!
This ride certainly compares to a disney style ride, not for the true thrill seaker, but for an after dinner gentle ride, this is the one to ride!

Out of all the haunted swings i've been, [only two] i thing hex is the best i've ever been on.
the haunting at drayton manner park isn't quite the same as hex, it is mearly in a new building.
i like hex because 1, it is built in the towers and 2, it has many features that isn't the same as the haunting.
i like the music, a really good tune to go with hex, i only hope that alton towers will install more thrillers for us to experience.

Hi there. I have been on the hex and i think its good and it's clever how they do it. When you are sat there looking at the floor when it's actually the celling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I myself think this attraction is pretty good! though the que lines need to be sorted and of course i think like the advert says
"a tale with a twist"i think the whole ride should go all the way over not just rock! it would be wicked even if it did it once!

even though i think Hex is a pretty good attraction i think myself that the whole ride should go all the way over not just rock! it says in the advert "a tale with a twist!"
still a good attraction!

I think that the actual ride is quite good but the queues are to long and there is too much build up to it whilst you are in the actual towers.

The first time i steped into the old gift shop where the ride's Q is! i could feel gloom around me! but at the same time having a good chuckle at the cards on the side of the qing area!!!! then as we steped into the next room and the man started his story on the legend of the towers, it cut off (this is part of ride) i thought it really cut off!! and i got a strange feeling! so we went to the next room!(which had been themed very well)a voice started talking then we lost contact with it(this is also part of ride) the lights went out and you could hear thunder!!(sounds very real)and things started poping up!!!and sheets started flaying about! finaly after about a minute of this the voice came back and the lights came on!!(few) then we went into the volt! (very good theming) and we sat down and the ride began! god it feels like you are about to go upsidedown but you dont! and when you look at the floor (which is the ceiling at the time) it has a big tree on the floor with this face on it lit up with purple and red!(i think that was the colours) and after about 2 minutes of that it stops and you get off!! what a ride! no where better than oblivion and nemisis! (and not better than submission by the look's of it) but good!!! 5 out of 10 i would give it!

Hex is not a thrill seekers ride at all but the sensation of being pulled into the story is exellent and the cursed tree really does exist (ive seen it) and beleive me its more spooky than the curse itself i love going at high velocity speeds and flying around inverted loops. Hex is not the best ride at alton towers neither is it the worst my honest opinion is dont listen to what people say about Hex because you might enjoy the experience just as much as i have...

I know when I went on Hex for the first time I was disappointed. I left the ride thinking "Is that it?". I think many people may have felt the same. The idea for Hex was very good, but I feel that the ride was probably rushed, and that little was done to make the ride more appealable. I think it will be difficult for Alton Towers to get the kind of popularity for Hex that they are used to with the other rides such as Nemesis.

The New HEX! Well not only is Hex Alton Towers newest ride, but it seems that its also the latest ride to receive a make-over.

As you all should remember, originally the queue for Hex was one without much interest... yes there are things to look at during your wait, but they soon lost my attention after a while, lets face it, there's only so long you can look at a few piles of books or a rusty suit of armour. Now during the waiting period there's some TV screens dotted around the place with a constant video loop playing a mock-up documentary on how they first discovered the story of the oak and some history of the Towers, all introduced by Towers historian - Les Davies (probably an actor) during his ramblings on the subject of Hex, we are shown various shots of trees and such like that seem to have been done in a Blair Witch style, with jittery camera work and what sounds like muffled whispering in the background.

That's just the queue for the ride....now on to part one! The original PT1 of the ride featured some guy who looked like Kenny Everett telling us a little background on the story of Hex and history of the legend. since all this is now revealed in the queue, something more was needed here to keep the public entertained. now as the overhead projector starts we a treated to a reconstruction of the curse itself (some bloke in a carriage tells some beggar woman to hop it and get out the way as he returns to the house and since she's not too chuffed about this she has a bit of a nasty dig at his family by cursing a tree) after which you are asked to go through the doors on to part 2.....

In PT2 we are first almost choked to death by a dry-ice machine giving the impression of fog...a little too much fog....and we are also subjected to another TV with some more reconstructed footage of the Earls fascination with the tree branch that fell of the tree and killed a member of his family (in a non-direct sense that is...) and how he ordered that all the branches on the tree to be chained up so as not to fall when being struck be lightning, this seems pretty silly really considering that metal seems to attract lightning and putting it high up in a tree wont help this fact either. After this little video clip the original PT2 continues with the supposed breaking down of a generator, howling winds blowing curtains about the place and the sound of a raging storm overhead. when all dies down we are then told to proceed on to the third and final part of the ride.

Well the third part remains the same as it was before and has not in any way had a facelift like the rest. I would tell you what happens but that would defeat the point of you going on it really would it not? You'll just have to see for yourselves and enjoy it the best you can. but I will say this one thing, don't expect anything really special or you may end up disappointed, just expect a fairly decent and well presented new ride.

Mac.

P.S. as the firework show this October approaches, there are rumours of a new section of Hex being opened which as yet remains unseen to the public, lets hope so!
