The Pagoda Fountain,
designed by Robert Abraham, was to have six storeys, and have
have forty gas-lit lamps hanging from the angles of each roof.
In reality,
the fountain only has three storeys, but is still a magnificent
sight, as it shoots water 70ft into the air. It
is based on the To Ho Pagoda in Canton, and took about four
years to build, in 1826.
During the summer
of 2000, the Pagoda Fountain was undergoing some restoration
and repair work.
